It Starts With the People Who Rely on MJHS

Everything begins with the people who rely on MJHS for care. Your generosity directly supports patients, families, and caregivers who are facing some of life’s most challenging moments. While MJHS provides high-quality health care across hospice, home care and other services, philanthropy ensures that those in need are treated with dignity and receive the comfort and support beyond what insurance alone can provide.

Your gift doesn’t fund an organization — it cares for people.

It helps an older adult remain safe at home.
It brings relief to an exhausted and overwhelmed caregiver.
It comforts a grieving family after the loss of a loved one.
It provides peace and dignity for a child at the end of life.

These are the people you stand beside when you donate to MJHS Foundation.

  • Underserved and Uninsured New Yorkers: New York has one of the lowest hospice utilization rates in the nation — especially among underserved communities. MJHS serves New Yorkers who are uninsured and underserved, so that they can receive care from MJHS. Philanthropy helps bridge remaining gaps by expanding access to care, ensuring no one is turned away due to financial hardship or limited resources.
  • Residents at Our Skilled Nursing Centers: Many individuals who live in our skilled nursing centers—MJHS Menorah and Isabella Centers— require ongoing medical support, rehabilitation, or long-term nursing care that cannot be provided at home. Donor generosity provides them with enriching programs, such as recreational therapy, that bring comfort and dignity to their daily lives. From creative arts therapy and holiday celebrations to culturally connected programs, pastoral care, and enhancements that make shared spaces feel more like home, your support helps our residents feel seen, valued, and cared for.
  • Caregivers Who Need Relief, Strength and Support: Family caregivers are often the quiet heroes of end-of-life care. But the physical and emotional demands can be overwhelming. Through donor funding, families may receive additional home health aide hours, guidance from social workers, counseling support, and help navigating difficult decisions.
  • Patients and Families Receiving Hospice Care and Support: Many of the individuals we care for are navigating serious illness and approaching the end of life. Your support helps ensure they receive compassionate, personalized care—so patients and families can spend their final moments together with peace, presence and connection, rather than the stress of caregiving alone.
  • Children and Families Facing Pediatric Hospice Care: Pediatric hospice is rare, complex, and emotionally demanding. Donor generosity provides specialized services that honor every moment of a child’s life while supporting families through anticipatory grief, decision-making, and emotional healing.
  • Families Grieving the Loss of a Loved One: Support doesn’t end when a patient passes. Donor-funded bereavement services guide families through grief, offering counseling, support groups, and spiritual care for up to 13 months — or longer if needed.

Because of You, More People Receive the Care They Deserve

The MJHS Foundation exists for one reason: to provide comfort and support to patients and their families when it matters most. Your gift ensures that those who entrust MJHS with their care receive support rooted in dignity, compassion, and respect. It also helps individuals with limited insurance coverage access to our meaningful programs and services.
