Extending Care Beyond What Insurance Covers

Family caregivers play a vital yet often overlooked role at the end of life. While insurance may cover limited Home Health Aide support, it is rarely enough—and it is focused solely on the patient. As a result, caregivers are left to fill critical gaps, often overnight or during long stretches when they cannot be present.

To help address this need, longtime caregiver Sylvia Golden established the MJHS Golden Family Supportive Treatment and Resources (STAR) Fund. Her vision was simple but powerful: to provide additional Home Health Aide hours beyond what insurance allows.

Today, the STAR Fund supports families across our hospice program with extra care—offering peace of mind, dignity, and meaningful relief when it matters most.

Support the STAR Fund

Your support for the STAR Fund funds additional hours for home health aides—helping caregivers feel supported, informed, and cared for while their loved ones receive care from MJHS Hospice. By easing both emotional and practical burdens, your generosity allows families to focus on what matters most: being together in love and peace. Supporting caregivers strengthens the entire circle of care at the end of life.
